What is TB-500?
TB-500 is a synthetic peptide fragment of the naturally occurring Thymosin Beta-4 protein. Tβ4 is found in high concentrations in blood platelets and wound fluid, and is involved in actin sequestration, cell migration, angiogenesis and wound healing. TB-500 corresponds to the actin-binding domain of Tβ4 (amino acids 17–23 of the full protein).
⚠ Research Purposes Only: TB-500 is a research chemical not approved for human consumption by the FDA or MHRA. It is banned by WADA for use in competitive sport.
Mechanism of Action
TB-500's primary mechanism involves upregulation of actin — the protein that drives cell motility. By sequestering G-actin (monomeric actin), Tβ4 increases the pool of actin available for cell movement. In tissue repair research, this promotes:
- Faster cell migration to wound sites
- Increased angiogenesis (new blood vessel formation)
- Upregulation of anti-inflammatory cytokines
- Collagen deposition and tissue remodelling
Published Research Summary
| Research Area | Model | Key Finding |
|---|---|---|
| Wound Healing | Animal models | Accelerated healing and re-epithelialisation |

TB-500 in Equine Research
TB-500 has been extensively studied in veterinary research, particularly in racehorses. Equine studies on tendon and soft tissue repair represent some of the most detailed research available on this compound. However, it is prohibited under racing regulations and WADA anti-doping rules.

Frequently Asked Questions
TB-500 (Thymosin Beta-4 fragment) is researched for its role in tissue repair, wound healing, angiogenesis and anti-inflammatory pathways. Research has been conducted in animal models and equine studies. For research purposes only.
No. TB-500 and BPC-157 are different peptides with different mechanisms. Both are researched for tissue repair but work through distinct pathways. TB-500 primarily works through actin regulation, while BPC-157 works through growth hormone and nitric oxide pathways.
