KPV is a tripeptide fragment (Lysine-Proline-Valine) derived from the C-terminal end of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH). Research has focused on its anti-inflammatory properties, which appear to be separable from alpha-MSH's pigmentation effects.
